AI-Assisted Research & Transparency

Figurepedia uses multiple AI language models as research and drafting tools. They help with gathering information, cross-referencing sources, and catching inconsistencies. A human editor is responsible for everything that gets published.

Research draws from official manufacturer websites, Japanese and Chinese corporate registries, collector databases (MyFigureCollection, Hpoi), retailer listings (AmiAmi, Big Bad Toy Store), and press coverage. When AI models flag conflicting claims, we go back to the primary sources to sort it out. The full list of sources we consult is on our Sources & References page.

Sources are attributed at article level, with section-level mapping on articles where it has been manually confirmed. Claim-level source maps for the August 2026 additions are maintained internally.

Figurepedia is a static website with no user accounts. We use Google Analytics to understand readership in aggregate: which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, and what devices they use. Google Analytics sets its own cookies and identifiers, governed by Google’s privacy policy; you can opt out with Google’s browser add-on or by blocking analytics scripts, and the site works identically either way. We do not run advertising networks, sell or share visitor data, or see anything about you as an individual. The only data this site itself stores on your device is your theme preference (light or dark mode) and citation display setting, saved via your browser’s local storage.

We load typefaces from Google Fonts, a service operated by Google LLC. When you visit Figurepedia, your browser connects to Google's servers to retrieve font files, which may result in your IP address being transmitted to Google. Google's handling of this data is governed by their privacy policy. For visitors concerned about this data transfer, most modern browsers allow blocking third-party requests, or you may use browser extensions that substitute local font files.
