Takara Tomy

Pocket-size Pokémon opened a figure story that now reaches premium anime scales.

TL;DR

  • Moncolle gives Takara Tomy a character-figure history reaching back to 1997, with current Pokémon figures priced from ¥715 to ¥2,200 ($5 to $15 USD).
  • The My Hero Academia scales are co-credited products: Takara Tomy is the releasing company and BellFine is the seller.
  • T-SPARK now covers fixed-pose figures through SPARK Fig and SPARK Fig GRANDE, compact licensed articulation through COLLEKAZARO, and original action figures through Altered Nano.
  • The useful starting point depends on format, not prestige: Moncolle for a favorite Pokémon, COLLEKAZARO for compact posing, Altered Nano for original design, and SPARK Fig or the My Hero Academia scales for a larger display.

Pokémon figures built the foundation

By 2013, Takara Tomy had sold at least 50 million Moncolle Pokémon figures across about 500 characters in Japan and Asia. The line had started in 1997, long before SPARK Fig gave the company a dedicated name for modern display figures. Moncolle matters because it makes small, affordable character collecting central to Takara Tomy's figure history, not a side project.

The corporate lineage reaches back to 1924, the present corporation was established in 1953, and Takara and Tomy merged in 2006. That history belongs in the frame, but the wider toy empire does not. This profile covers only SPARK Fig, SPARK Fig GRANDE, COLLEKAZARO, Altered Nano, Moncolle, and the Takara Tomy-released My Hero Academia scales. T-ARTS and TOMYTEC appear on Takara Tomy's group-company list as separate companies and are not included here.

Current Moncolle MS figures stand approximately 4 cm and cost ¥715 ($5 USD). The ML series reaches approximately 10 cm at ¥1,760 ($12 USD), while Gigantamax figures cost ¥2,200 ($15 USD). A first-time buyer can simply choose a favorite Pokémon, but the large character list also rewards collectors who enjoy building teams or regional groups without turning each addition into a major purchase.

My Hero Academia moved Takara Tomy into scale figures

By 2020, Takara Tomy's name was attached to BellFine-sold My Hero Academia display figures such as Momo Yaoyorozu Hero Suit Ver. The product is 1/8 scale, meaning roughly one-eighth of the character's represented height, and stands approximately 230 mm tall. Its price including tax was ¥15,950 ($105 USD). The credit line is precise: Takara Tomy is the releasing company, while BellFine is the seller.

Later releases made the program more visually ambitious, with Mt. Lady arriving at ¥20,900 ($140 USD) in 1/90 scale. Miniature buildings and rubble make her 245 mm figure read as a giant. Lady Nagant followed in 2025 at ¥25,960 ($175 USD), reaching 345 mm to the rifle muzzle. These are display-led compositions with effects and poses doing more work than a neutral standing sculpt.

Palette Masters adds a different finish to this catalog by painting strong highlights and shadows so a physical figure resembles animation art. Himiko Toga reached ¥20,350 ($135 USD) in 2025. Tsuyu Asui at the same price is scheduled for September 2026, and the 230 mm Mirko is scheduled for October at ¥29,700 ($200 USD). Buyers should search both Takara Tomy and BellFine when researching these figures, and should read the published release and sales credits instead of assuming one company handled every stage of production.

T-SPARK now covers several figure formats

Takara Tomy launched T-SPARK in summer 2024 as a unified hobby brand for ages 15 and older. The launch listed eight series, including an assembled action-figure project designed by Yoji Shinkawa. In 2025, the character-figure side became easier to see when Takara Tomy announced COLLEKAZARO and SPARK Fig, with overseas sales planned for both Asia and Western markets.

COLLEKAZARO uses a 3.75-inch format, approximately 10 cm tall, with movable neck, shoulder, arm, and hip joints on Izuku Midoriya. That January 2026 release cost ¥3,300 ($22 USD). Altered Nano uses a similar height for completed original action figures designed by Yoji Shinkawa, with mechanical design by Shinji Aramaki. Alt FRIGATE opened that line at ¥5,940 ($40 USD), giving the current catalog a creator-led option beside licensed anime characters.

SPARK Fig handles painted scale and non-scale figures, which means some releases follow a stated size ratio while others are designed to a chosen display height. Princess Ripple from Princession Orchestra was the first release at approximately 21 cm and ¥13,200 ($90 USD). SPARK Fig GRANDE is the larger branch, and its 1/7 Kotona Elegance from Zoids Genesis is listed at ¥22,000 ($145 USD) for February 2027. Together, the four T-SPARK lines form a clear step from pocketable articulation to a larger fixed-pose centerpiece.

Choosing a first Takara Tomy figure

Moncolle is the easiest first purchase for a Pokémon collector because the figures are inexpensive, small, and sold in many characters. COLLEKAZARO suits buyers who want anime characters with a few useful joints in a compact display. Altered Nano is the more design-led choice, while Princess Ripple, Kotona Elegance, and the My Hero Academia scales ask for more shelf space and a larger budget. None of those formats replaces another; each solves a different collecting need.

North American buyers now have domestic retail routes. Takara Tomy's 2025 announcement named TOMY PLUS as part of the overseas plan, and the US T-SPARK storefront carries COLLEKAZARO and Altered Nano, including My Hero Academia figures under COLLEKAZARO. Crunchyroll also lists the Palette Masters Mirko under the TAKARA TOMY brand at $199.99. Stock still differs by line, so checking the official Japanese product page first remains the clearest way to confirm the exact format and credit line.

Takara Tomy's character-figure catalog now has a visible structure: Moncolle keeps collecting open at ¥715 ($5 USD), compact action figures add posing, and SPARK Fig plus the My Hero Academia program build toward larger display pieces. The company does not need its entire toy history squeezed into this profile to matter here. Its figure side already reaches from a four-centimeter Pikachu to a premium 1/8 hero, with more T-SPARK releases moving into view.
